Inaugurating a new cycle of Mahler symphonies to be made available exclusively on IDAGIO, Claus Peter Flor conducts the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi in the composer's valedictory Symphony No. 9. The recording was made live at the Auditorium di Milano on 23 November 2017 and inaugurates a long-term project that will see Flor, laVerdi's Music Director, conduct all Mahler's symphonies with the orchestra, helping to build up the symphonic tradition of a city that has for centuries been associated primarily with opera. This recording of the Ninth will be followed by the release of a recording of the First Symphony captured at Milan's legendary Teatro alla Scala at the opening concert of laVerdi's 25th-anniversary season.
