这张专辑是克尔斯滕·约翰逊（Kirsten Johnson）继2024发行由她自己作曲且录音的《Expressions》后的第二张钢琴奏鸣曲，创作于2014年，部分灵感来自斯特拉文斯基的钢琴奏鸣曲。第一乐章以4+6/8拍的全音音型开场。简短的引子之后是奏鸣曲快板式的主旋律。第二主题以增三和弦展开。尾声将爵士风格的主题元素与引子中的八度音型融合，最终形成一个激动人心的结尾。第二乐章《塞壬的呼唤》（Call of the Sirens）灵感源自神话中塞壬对海上船只的呼唤，水流的波动和上方诡异的鸣叫在双手之间以规律的方式展开。第三乐章以棱角旋律起，伴琴箱敲击与跺脚节奏。高音区引入第二段旋律，借混合节拍与首段动机交织。中段钟声后接轻柔华尔兹，旋即改编为第二拍重音的玛祖卡，二者节奏交替。开篇素材再现，八度音拓展动机。尾声要求在指定八度内同时按下多音，制造声音碰撞。《Months of the Year》创作于2022年，灵感来自柴可夫斯基的《四季》。每一首曲子都像是一个微型故事，通过细腻的旋律和丰富的和声，讲述着每个月的专属故事，让人沉浸在充满诗意与情感的音乐世界里。

克尔斯滕·约翰逊（Kirsten Johnson）出生于弗吉尼亚州弗雷德里克斯堡，是一位享誉国际的钢琴家、作曲家和录音艺术家。她与Centaur、Nimbus、Delos和Guild合作录制了25张钢琴独奏曲。其中包括本杰明·卡尔（Benjamin Carr）、阿瑟·福特（Arthur Foote）、詹姆斯·休伊特（James Hewitt）和艾米·比奇（Amy Beach）的钢琴曲全集，以及阿尔巴尼亚钢琴曲和德米特里·卡巴列夫斯基作品1的世界首演录音。她在2022年发行的两张弗洛伦斯·普赖斯（Florence Price）钢琴作品专辑包括 34 张世界首演的CD 唱片。克尔斯滕2024年在 Centaur 发行的《Expressions》是一张关于她自己的钢琴作品，第二张计划于2025 年发行。
