罗素・普拉特（Russell Platt）曾荣获查尔斯・艾夫斯奖学金（Charles Ives Scholarship）及美国艺术与文学学院研究金（American Academy of Arts and Letters Fellowship），现任范德堡大学（Vanderbilt University）教授。
早年任职《纽约客》杂志（The New Yorker）编辑期间，他于 2010 年斩获美国作曲家、作家与出版商协会（ASCAP）迪姆斯・泰勒音乐评论奖（Deems Taylor Award for Music Criticism）。
本录音集呈现了普拉特作品的首次录音，其中包含为大都会歌剧院（Metropolitan Opera）男高音保罗・阿普尔比（Paul Appleby）创作的歌曲作品。
